There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

A prototype of Payday 3 dated October 22, 2020 was accidentally leaked on Steam and grabbed November 1, 2023.

The game is in an early stage, borrowing assets from Payday 2 and making its world out of basic brushes.

Gameplay#

  • Stealth still works like Payday 2, rather than the later builds' more in-depth detection/masking up system.
  • Armor still regenerates like in the previous games. Of note, the player's armor breaking doesn't block damage.
  • Locke is the handler and is almost fully voiced with unique dialogue, in developer interviews these were stated to be placeholder lines and that he was always going to be replaced.

Drill#

  • The developers were experimenting with scrapped mechanics: instead of jamming randomly 1-3 times, the players have to manage the drill overheating. A player can toggle between slow, with slight heat buildup, or fast, with a shorter drilling time with much greater head buildup. To manage heat, the player can pause the drill, allowing it to cooldown. If the drill overheats, it jams. Also, at certain points the drill would reach a new "material", and the heister must manually adjust it, acting like a planned jam (this adjustment is the only remnant in the final game).
  • There are two different designs for the drill in this build.

Levels#

There are several available "levels". Three are heists, the others are dev test rooms.

No Rest For The Wicked#

Under the menu option "Level_Stealth_Prototype", also in the heist itself as "smol bank of america".

  • The first heist is a very early version of "No Rest For The Wicked".
  • The heist follows the standard stealth objectives, regardless of the alarm going off.
  • The layout is near identical, except instead of a giant glass window view from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor lobby, there are more offices.

Bankiest Bank of America#

Under the menu option "Level_prototype". It's an original, unseen bank heist. It already has some detailing, more than the prototype of "No Rest For The Wicked".

Jewellery Store#

An exact port of Payday 2's iconic heist.

  • No objectives work.
  • Both Franz Jaeger and Titan safe variants spawn inside each other.
  • There is no police.

There's a dev-texture guard.
