Spawn has a 4-note melody instead of 5 notes. For "Puke", the vowel for the lower choir voices changed from "AH" to "EE". "Vomit Head" 01_02 and 01_04 are not used in-game nor mentioned in any files. Tags are identical. |
Hunter |

Spawn's piano is an octave lower. While still unfinished, "Pounce" 04 most resembles the final "Exenteration". Tag is still early. |
Smoker |

Spawn has a slightly lower pitch. "Drag" functions the same way the final "Tongue Tied" does. "Hit" tag lacks filter and is mixed in stereo. A trumpet was later added to "Choke Hit" tag. |
Witch |

The last file, "Witch Rage", starts silent on loop and increases in volume the more angry a Witch gets. In this build, the sound is localized at map origin (typically out of audible range). A workaround is to open "game_sounds_music.txt" in the scripts folder, and under Events.WitchRage, change the "soundlevel" string to "SNDLVL_NONE". |

Radio:
Presumably placeholders. Features "Blood from Zion" by High on Fire, "Tetsujin" from The Matrix Revolutions soundtrack, "Dehumanization" by Meshuggah, and "Run" from the movie Ravenous. These tracks can be enabled as horde music by using the console command "left_4_dead_radio 1". A leftover string in game_sounds_music.txt indicates a missing file for "Gonzalez" from the movie Man on Fire.
Blood#
"Horde" 01-04 is the only remaining retail equivalent (02-04 are copies of 01) to the 170 BPM files. The rest went entirely unused. This concept of dynamic change in tempo is later seen in Left 4 Dead 2's Scavenge Mode.
