Early builds of Turtle Rock Studios's Left 4 Dead hosted at events such as QuakeCon in 2007 predate this prototype by almost an entire year. These prototypes had an stats and award screen during the loading transition between safe houses. While the player stats were kept in the loading screen, the achievements were completely cut by the time this build was compiled.
In these prototypes, the achievements were divided into three types: Great achievements, Good achievements (honors), and Bad achievements (faults), noted by their yellow, green, and red color respectively. Almost everything imaginable is an achievement, from reasonable ones like killing a Tank without anyone being hurt to ideas that verge on ridiculousness such as an achievement for being kicked out of the game. Some of these ideas were included as Steam and Xbox 360 achievements through the game's retail release while others were ultimately forgotten. The feature of awards was replaced with popups such as the one which says that a player saved or attacked another player.
Also included in the prototype are more early achievements exclusive to the Xbox 360 build, which will be listed separately from the Windows achievements.
