Beta Trial Code

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Proto:Jak X: Combat Racing.

To do:
This build can be booted in a kind of "retail mode". It changes everything, and I think the best thing would be to separate the 2 booting modes into subpages....

This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

One of many PlayStation 2 prototypes given a limited release to test the PlayStation online network function. In this prototype only online play was made available, however because the network has now long-since shut down, it is now restricted to the title screen menus.

Game Intro#

While the intro scene is mostly the same, there are still some minor differences.

The title logo in the prototype is completely different.

The text "Sony Computer Entertainment America Presents" appears in the intro in the prototype, while in the final version it does not.

In the prototype, the names of four voice actors appear in the scene after the logo. This is missing in the final game.

To do:

  • Add "Customize" (vehicle menus)
  • Add "Profile"

Many of the menus from the final game are unavailable in this prototype, and the rest of them are different. Also, it seems that the camera's position in the garage menus is different in the prototype.

Prototype

Final

Description

The final game's main menu has much more options than the prototype's.

The text seems to be bigger in the prototype, but these menus are otherwise identical.

The prototype has much less game options than the final game.

The prototype has significantly less graphic options, and also "Center Screen" is used instead of "Centre Screen" like in the final version.

The options themselves are the same but the menu's design is different.
