'This page or section details content from theJune 11th, 2020 Postal III Beta Leak.''' |
|
|
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. |
|
|
To do: |
On June 11th, 2020, an archive of Postal III's Perforce was leaked. Contained within is both the source code and an early build of Postal III, unfinished early builds of Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and various Source Engine development tools. The Episode Two build is from two months before release and cannot be launched due to lacking the "client" and "server" .dll files. While it is mostly identical to the final game, there's still some differences to be found.
Empty Sound Folders#
Two empty sound folders exist in this build, being sound\vo\ep3 and sound\vo\leipzig. The "ep3" folder may have been used for the fabled Episode Three, and the "leipzig" folder was used in the Gamescom 2006 - Leipzig demo.
Unused Map#
An unused map named devtest_01b.bsp can be found in this build. This map starts off in a concrete hallway with a caged Zombie at the end of it. After killing the zombie by igniting gas, the player has to use a tied-up car similar to the ones from Ravenholm to go up. The player then meets up with Alyx, where 4 Combine Soldiers with Nova Prospekt skins spawn after obtaining a supercharged Gravity Gun. The next room takes way the player's weapons and after some Zombine combat, there is a particle testing room. This map ends with a section taken from HL2 chapter "Anticitizen One".
The map attempts to transition to devtest_02.bsp. This map does not exist.
Reslist-Only Maps#
There exist some .lst/reslist files for maps that don't exist neither in this build nor the final game but were found in the 2016-2017 Source Repo leaks.

Cut Rebel Voicelines#
|
|
To do: |
There are folders containing voicelines for an unused rebel voiced by Earl Alexander, famously known for voicing Louis in Left 4 Dead.
Unused Textures#
These textures are all gone from the final game.
combine_advisor_pod_red#
A texture for the Combine advisor pod with red lights.
water001_normal#
The normal texture for water001 which appears to be missing. It was located in the nature folder.
rippleMapV4#
Two texture files located in the particle/rippleMapV4 that appear to be particles used for ripples in water, which are ripplemapV4a and b. In the final game only ripplemapV2 is used.
Unused Scene files#
ep_02.al_car_laughing#
While some scene files have minor differences in timing or range, there is a set of files labelled ep_02.al_car_laughing ranging from 01 to 08. These all appear to be a modified version of a scene file missing from the final game labelled ep_02.al_car_callback01.
These files are not labelled as vcd and are almost identical except for the param and the timing. The soundfile for callback01 is present, so it is possible to restore the original callback01 vcd using these placeholders and the timing from the sound file.
