This is a sub-page of Proto:Gubble Buggy Racer.

This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

To do:
Document more of the game, plus unused content.

Dated around 3 months before the final game, this build has most of the Wallace & Gromit assets scrubbed (though there are still some lurking in the files), and is simply called "Gubble Racing". It's noticabely more barebones than the other available prototype, as it only features one track and no options menu.

General Differences#

The Options menu was removed.

  • The mirror in the top-left was removed.
  • The Data Design Interactive logo on the bottom-left was replaced with another variation.
  • Gubble's antenna and ear graphics are lacking transparency.

Unused Graphics#

To do:
Add final versions for comparison.

Early minimap graphics for the Technoville, Castle Corners and Oildrum Bends tracks.

A Gubble coin drawn over in six different colors. These might be placeholder icons for the other "characters", who are simply recolors of Gubble.

An early version of the speedometer, with the placement counter attached to it. In the final game, it was moved to the minimap.

DUTI Model Viewer#

Included with the prototype is a folder called Duti Release, which is actually a model viewer made by Data Design Interactive. It can load .lwo (Lightwave model) and .lws (Lightwave animation) files, though not all of them. It's very barebones and unfinished, as the first option in the Other tab is labeled "DO NOT USE ANY OF THESE OPTIONS!!".
