Text Differences

This is a sub-page of Proto:Frogger 2 (Xbox 360).

Most of the game's text strings can be found at String.dat in the prototype and Strings.dat in the final game, and comparing them reveals many differences:

Menus#

In addition to the changes noted below, the "Start Story Mode from the beginning." and "Start Story Mode from where you left off." lines don't have translations for any languages other than Japanese and English in the prototype. In addition, these lines are translated to in English as "Story Mode New Game" and "Story Mode Continue", respectively.
The string "Exit" is translated to English as "Quit" in the prototype. It also lacks translations to Korean and Chinese.

Options#

The strings "Select storage device.", "Save" and "Change display." don't have translations to any languages other than Japanese and English. In addition, the former line lacks the punctuation mark at the end, and the latter is translated to English as "Change Disp".

In addition to the changes noted below, the "Retry Game", "Exit Stage" and "Retry Stage" strings don't have translations to any languages other than Japanese and English. In addition, the latter two are translated to English as "Exit Game" and "Restart Game", respectively.
The strings "Retry the stage from the beginning?" and "You have not saved. Exit game anyway?" also only have Japanese and English variations in the prototype; they are translated into English as simply "Game retry?" and "Save Confirm".
The Hint string "Move Frogger along, being careful not to let him touch any enemies." does not have any strings other than Japanese in the prototype.
