Scrapped content in IGC Cutscenes#

The IGCs found in the movie folder across all Bank files contain storyboard sketches that depict significantly different events and details compared to both the 3D in-game prototype cutscenes and the final game.

IGC 1.0

Watch on YouTube

  • Gremlin Markus's line, "Mickey, it's good to see you again!" remains in the final game. This is surprising because Gremlin Jamface replaced Gremlin Markus in this role, and Jamface never actually met Mickey in the first Epic Mickey.
  • A gremlin named "Gremlin Jehosaphat" is mentioned in the storyboard IGC, but he was scrapped and is never referenced in the final version.
  • While Gus explains that Rainbow Caverns was the first ride built in Wasteland, a scene was intended to play showing Gremlins carrying pipes and repairing structures: however, this was cut from both the in-game prototype cutscenes and the final game.
  • Unlike in the final game, to reach the DEC to OsTown, Gremlin Markus tells you to meet him at the top of the Penny Arcade instead of near the Walt Disney statue.
    • He explains that he needs the transport tubes repaired. Once fixed, you can use the DEC to OsTown. At this point in development, the windmill had not yet been implemented.

IGC 2.2

Watch on YouTube

  • An altered cutscene shows Ghost Ian opening the path to Blot Alley, while in both the in-game prototype cutscenes and the final version, he simply walks through the wall, providing no assistance to the player.

IGC 2.5A and IGC 2.5B

Watch on YouTubeWatch on YouTube

  • Gremlin Prescott uses the little device attached to his belt to open doors and perform other actions however, this feature was removed from both the in-game prototype cutscenes and the final version.

IGC 2.45A

Watch on YouTube

  • In an altered IGC, fixing A.B.E. triggers a scene where he shows Mickey, Oswald, and Gremlin Gus a screen recording of Gremlin Prescott speaking his line, instead of imitating him as he does in both the in-game prototype cutscenes and the final version.

IGC 2.55

Watch on YouTube

  • The end of the cutscene is present in the 3D in-game cutscene of Bank 2 prototype, but it is missing from Bank 5 and the final game.

IGC 3.0A and IGC 3.0B

  • There is an unused cutscene showing either Mickey or Oswald waving to Pete Pan, who then grabs and swings them out of the construction site. This scene is not used in any of the prototypes nor in the final game.

Differences between Banks and final#

  • There are quite a few differences between Bank 2, Bank 5, and the final.

Dark Beauty Castle

Near the beginning of the train station are devices that Oswald can use, but they are absent in Bank 5 and the final.

Mean Street South

In both Bank 2 and Bank 5 on "Mean Street South," the undergrounds, called "utilidors" in the banks, is located in a different location.

Before entering the undergrounds in Bank 2 and Bank 5, there's a room with a turnstile, which is absent in the final.

Rainbow Falls

In the substation, the platform to fix the pipe is absent in both Bank 2 and Bank 5. It seems originally you were meant to use Oswald to reach the pipe.

Train Dioramas

One of the biggest changes is ABE (the Automatic Branch Engineer), who in Bank 2 and Bank 5 is based on the Abraham Lincoln Animatronic. The PC files still have him named "lincolnanimatronic"

Dumbo 2D reel

The 2D reel "Dumbo" is a projector level that is in Bank 2 and Bank 5 but was scrapped in the final.

Floatyard

Floatyard or originally called "Float Graveyard" has Gremlin Tiestow caged at another location in Bank 2, while in Bank 5 he is captured at the same spot as in the final.

Bank 2 and Bank 5 has Gremlin Prescott idle at this spot, probably an unused animation? Not in the final.

Bank 2 has an unused animation right after Gremlin Prescott taunts them to follow them through the projector. In Bank 5, it is no longer used.

Prescotts Arena

Bank 2 has two entrances for the paint path to Prescott's Arena, while Bank 5 only includes a single entrance that matches the final release. That means that the thinner path originally allowed players to access the first phase of the boss fight. In the final game, the thinner path skips Phase 1 entirely and starts directly at Phase 2 of the boss fight.

In the Paint route, after defeating the turret, Gremlin Gus tells Mickey and Oswald that he will deactivate the force field in the middle to let them escape. It is in both Bank 2 and Bank 5 but scrapped in the final, as it cuts right to the next cutscene.

Mickey, Gremlin Prescott and Gremlin Gus have different dialogues in Bank 5.

In Bank 2, Prescotts Mech thanks Mickey if he uses the paint route.

Ventureland

The caged Gremlin, which is referred to as "Gremlin Robinson" in the files, is caged in a different location and is yellow, while in the final he is a green Gremlin.

Mad Doctor Boss

After facing the second phase of the boss and after either thinning or painting the masks, guardians are set free, which you have to use on the Mad Doctor. In the final, you don't have to use the guardians against the Mad Doctor, as it does automatically.
