Tokyo Toy Show Demo

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Proto:ElecHead.

After Area ###, the stages are very incomplete, and don't match anything present in the final game.

Use this patch on the base game to circumvent crashes and spawn properly from the beginning.

Misc Differences#

  • The opening cutscene plays in this build type mode, though it's completely different. It has the same bright light, but it gets gradually bigger, before zooming out to text that reads "THE LIGHT IS GONE" ("ヒカリがきえた"). There's no audio at all.
  • There are no stands for the monitors that lead electricity. This means no monitors will activate at all.
  • The ending cutscene has some differences as well.

Tokyo Game Show 2020 Demo Stage (rmDemo)#

To do:
Compare RMDEMO to final game

This is the main stage you spawn into in this demo. It's self explanatory, containing the first area, a part of the second area and five collectible keys. There's some notable changes throughout compared to the final game.

SOWN2020 Special Stage (rmSHOWN2020)#

Watch on YouTubeSOWN2020 (shortened for Sense of Wonder Night 2020) is an event where selected finalists were allowed to pitch their games in a live stream during TGS2020. ElecHead was one of the selected games (starting in the stream at 32:28).

It seems like the stage in this build is an earlier version (mistitled as "rmSHOWN2020 instead of "rmSOWN2020"), as there are major differences between the stage here and the stage in the live stream. Nevertheless, the stage is fully functional. It's pretty short, only meant to showcase the character's main abilities with commentary for the show. Some screens featured here are slightly more revised versions of the screens seen in the main stage.

Trailer Stage (rmTrailerStage)#

This stage appeared in a trailer released a few days before the Tokyo Game Show demo dropped. The full trailer has since been privated. This stage and a short clip of the trailer during the SOWN2020 is the only remnants that are available at this point.

The stage is pretty short, allowing you to grab the chip for the throw ability while walking past signs that reveal the developers' names. The end has you drop down a pit that leads to the beginning of the game, with a sign that shows a 2020 release date (though by the time this trailer was out, the release date was changed to 2020 or 2021). The text format was changed in between this trailer and this demo's release, so none of the signs display anything and crash the game upon loading without modifications.

The signs read:

GAME BY
NAMA-TAKAHASHI
SOUND BY
TSUYOMI
COMING 2020

Misc#

rmStageTest#

A single screen stage with a platform and hidden walls. What this is supposed to test is unknown.

rmCodeTest#

A room for the developer to test code in that's normally inaccessible, regardless of a set build type. In this case, it calls for an object called oCodeTest2 via oCodeTest, but does nothing beyond that. All this was seemingly meant for was for testing the var and function commands.

rmLanguageSelect#

A simple language select screen to pick either Japanese or English. The final game barely uses any on-screen text.
