This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

To do:
Document a massive amount of differences and unused content from the prototype.

A prototype from December 10, 2004 was found on a THQ developer test build disc for the Playstation 2 submitted anonymously on April 15, 2025. This version contains earlier builds of the final invasion sites of the game, E3 2004 leftovers and scrapped abilities and features. It is hilariously broken and prone to many crashes.

General Differences#

Overall Gameplay#

  • The HUD is different compared to the original, notably with the minimap showing the alert levels on the edge.
  • The alert levels are broken as the authorities do not spawn in vehicles nor does it dissipate after a period of time.
  • The saucer is missing from the launch sequence and title cards are text-only.
  • Placeholder text replaces cinematics in the final game. Most speech is missing from mission-specific characters.
  • Players must press the SELECT button to speak to Orthopox-13 instead of automatic playing.
  • Cows do not ragdoll.
  • The psychokinesis push function automatically locks onto nearby targets and is usually fatal for both targets.
  • Background music plays in the pause menu.

Furon Mothership#

  • The prototype begins on the main menu with an earlier soundtrack.
  • The load game selection screen is featured in the mothership in a 3D room.
  • Crypto taunts the player and hums Italic text after a period of inactivity instead of Orthopox-13.
  • The invasion site selector is featured in a room in front of the main room with the saucer hovering above it.
  • The Furonigami section is missing and the B-Movie theater does not play video.
