This is a sub-page of Proto:Command & Conquer: Generals/Build 98 Alpha/Models.
Airfield#
This is an old design of the airfield. The model matches the concept art, minus the runway. The track marks on the runway look quite interesting, but they are strange since they are not expected when an airfield is built from anew.
The Night variant of the Very Damaged condition uses the model of the Damaged condition.

Aurora#
The old model for the Aurora with the gold color scheme. Its design is sleeker compared to that of the final game, as it matches the concept art.

Barracks#
The old barracks design. Actually, it doesn't really look like a barracks, but more like a high school or something.

Battle Drone#
An early battle drone model with the characteristic gold color scheme.

Battle Lab#
The building that would later become the Strategy Center was called the Battle Lab. A Render of this model calls it "Strategy Center" rather than "Battle Lab", which reinforces the previous statement.

Colonel Burton#

Colonel Burton's model slightly differs from the one in the final game, he wears what appears to be a cap and has a demo charge strapped to his chest.
His animation set does not exist in this build.
Comanche#
Other than the old faction color scheme, there aren't any differences.

Command Center#
The USA Command Center is same as the one from the final game, minus the flag, which shows the American flag instead of the team color. However, the night condition models for the Command Center show an interesting old design based off the concept art. Because of a mess up on the developers' part, the texture for Pristine model condition was replaced with that of a different Command Center model which is nowhere to be found.
The render for the default, non-night condition shows the correct, missing texture.

Crusader#
This is the original Crusader model, based off its concept art. It was planned for it to be upgraded with a hover drive. One of the selection images for the War Factory in the final game still shows this model. After the Leopard Tank was cut, the Crusader tank took its model. This is why the textures for the Crusader Tank in the final game are still named Leopard.

Detention Camp#
An early idea for the Detention Camp based off its concept art. With this gold color and the looks of all the stuff, the game would have been much different than what it is now. Only the Pristine condition model is available.

Dozer#
This early Dozer model can be seen in some prerelease screenshots as well as the USA victory screen in the original game.

Guardian Control Center#
Now this is a building which does not have a counterpart in the final version. It was most likely related somehow to the cut Guardian Drones units, since the building, which doesn't have its own concept art piece, is found in the concept art for the Guardian Drones and would've been needed in order for the Guardian Drones to function. Similar to how in Red Alert 2, a robot control center is required for the drones to be functional.

Guardian Drone#
This is one of the many drone units which did not make it into the final game. A Guardian Control Center building would've been most likely needed in order to control these units.

Leopard Tank#
Now this is a tank that was cut from the game, however, its model was later given to the Crusader Tank. The texture files for the Crusader in the final game are still named after the Leopard Tank. Notice the messed up UV wrapping.

Medic Drone#
Again, another drone that was cut from the game. Its role was probably replaced by the Ambulance.

Pathfinder#

The Pathfinder uses an earlier texture in this build, his torso is colored a more vibrant shade of green, his kneepads are teamcolored, his pants are blue, his boots are brown and not camouflaged, his ghillie suit is short and covers less of his body and gun, it doesn't cover his back and extends from his arms downward.
His animation set is missing from this build.
Patriot Battery#

The major difference here, other than the old textures, is that the missile launcher is mounted at the side rather than at the bottom. But that's it already.
Pilot#
The Pilot model in this build uses a small and less detailed texture.
Power Plant#

This is another building drawn by concept art; it was to be called the Fusion Reactor. It looks quite interesting, almost futuristic, and it's sad that it didn't make it.
Predator#
This tank looks similar to the old Crusader, with only a subtly different design. The art team was probably just brainstorming ideas at this point of development. There is a Chinese variant of this tank in the build files. Perhaps it was a Chinese unit that was repurposed as an American unit or vice versa.

Ranger#
An old model of the ranger with a different texture, which can be seen in some prerelease screenshots. This early Ranger model also has some unique, fancy looking animations not used by the Ranger in the final game.
Raptor#
This old Raptor model is based off its concept art, whereas the final game Raptor is more or less based off the real American F-22 Raptor.
The build also contains an alternative Raptor model, with darker colors. It was used in promotional media as enemy aircraft.

SDI Uplink#
The SDI Uplink was the original American superweapon, its concept art shows it firing a missile of sorts from its underground chamber. It was replaced with the Particle Cannon in the final game. Interestingly, the Particle Cannon model files in the final game still refer to it as the SDI Uplink.
The SDI Uplink, in all of its model conditions, does not use unique textures, rather textures sheets from the Airfield, The Command Center and the Warfactory.

Scout Drone#
This old model of Scout Drone matches its concept art, and was going to be used as an upgrade for the Rangers.

SEAL#
A SEAL infantry unit was planned for the USA, like the Navy SEAL from Red Alert 2. The problem with it is that it did not quite fit into the faction since everything it did was already covered by other American infantry.
Security Wall#
Unlike the cut walls from the final game, this Security Wall is not divided into sections and corners. It can be seen in some prerelease screenshots.

Starlifter#
Evidence of a Starlifter vehicle lies in the text in the final game alongside its texture, but the prototype contains the model itself. It does not look too much like the real-life Starlifter, but much more like the V-22 Osprey.

Supply Center#
The old Supply Center was designed to fit the "truck" system that was going to be used for the game, where every faction used a truck for collecting supplies.
The Very Damaged model condition, which uses lower quality textures compared to the other conditions, lacks a night variant.

Supply Truck#
The old USA supply truck was faithfully modeled after its concept art. Originally all factions used supply trucks for gathering resources, but when the factions were redesigned this supply truck was scrapped.

Tomahawk Launcher#
A Tomahawk Launcher model with the old faction color scheme. it's also seen in many prerelease screenshots. The selection images for the Tomahawk Launcher in the final game still show it with the this texture.

Warfactory#
The Warfactory, as with the Command Center, is also the same as the one from the final game. However, the night condition models also show an older design based off the concept art.
Note especially the early design of America's logo, drawn by TJ frame. It looks a lot like the logo of the Allies from Red Alert 2, actually. The faction insignias in the final game were drawn by Phil Robb.
