This is a sub-page of Proto:Angry Birds.

An early HD build of 2.2.0 dated May 28, 2012. While there is nothing all that different gameplay-wise, the files contain early assets for the Golden King Pig minigames, which imply that said minigames were still under development when this build was created.

Early King Pig Mode Assets#

To do:

  • There's more early sprites in the MATTEL_ELEMENTS_1 sheet. Rip them and document them here.

Small Pig#

Prototype

Final

The pig counterpart for the Blues seen in the King Pig mode has a slightly different design compared to the final. The only major difference design-wise is that the prototype design has eye bags similar to the ones that the Blues have. Strangely, he also has a completely different collision sprite in the prototype which looks more in line with the other collision sprites in the game, whereas the final is just a shocked expression of sorts.

Jetpack Pig#

Prototype

Final

Much like the Small Pig, Chuck's King Pig mode counterpart also has an earlier design in the prototype. The jetpack is a lot more bare-looking, notably lacking the red stripes and the fins on its sides.

This prototype design also appears to very similar to the one seen on the back of the box for the Apptivity King Pig toy that can be used to activate the Golden King Pig minigames early in HD and HD Free versions of the game, with the only notable difference being that it lacks the antenna on the Jetpack Pig's hat.

Timer UI#

Prototype

Final

The UI for the timer seen in the Bird Frenzy and Total Destruction minigames features wood blocks instead of the translucent black square that's seen in the finalized version.

Minigame Splashes#

Prototype

Final

The splashes for each minigame's title have a lot less detail in the prototype and were just two shades of color. The "King Pig" minigame also had a completely different name, where it was titled "Pig Panic".

Pigs Do Fly!#

A splash for a minigame that doesn't appear anywhere in the final version. It's unknown what kind of minigame this would've been for. It could've been an earlier name for the King Pig mode before Pig Panic, or a different minigame entirely.

King Pig Laughing#

To do:
Compare with the finalized sprite used in the game.

An early graphic for the King Pig laughing sprite that appears when starting one of the minigames, which is... very ominously shaded. The finalized version is animated and lacks this kind of shading.
