Xbox GDC 2000 design#

Early Xbox Dashboard Concepts#

The now defunct Xbox Museum site from 2021 revealed two early concept videos for the Dashboard, named "BLUR" and "FROG" respectively. "BLUR" is a very loud and in your face design straight out of a DVD menu, while "FROG" has more of a 2000s, almost early Xbox 360 era look. These concepts were likely created around 1999/2000 based on elements seen within. Of note within these concepts was the presence of a "Movies" and "Games" section not seen on the final dashboard, along with the "XZone", possibly an early concept/title for Xbox Live. The Games/Movies/XZone sections would also appear in the later dashboard concepts.

To do: Upload the other video

The designer who pitched the Dashboard's design still has the original pitch on their portfolio site. Along with it are two videos which most closely reflect the April 2001 build.
