Diary Images#

Multiple early images of Perfect Cherry Blossom were posted through the course of 2003 on ZUN's Diary.

th114.jpg#

• This image was posted on February 20, 2003, but the date in the filename (114) suggests that this was actually taken on January 14th, 2003.
• This version of Stage 4 notably still used the old portraits that were designed in 2002.
• The middle image featuring Lily White shows that her title has a different name, which is not legible due to the quality.

th318.jpg#

• The bullet and lazer colors are different from the final release, 1.00a.

th0805.jpg#

• This image depicts both Stage 5 and Stage 6 of Perfect Cherry Blossom.
• Yuyuko's spell card notably features more bullets than the final game, and has some slightly different colors compared to 1.00a (Hard difficulty).

Early Music#

In ZUN's second album, Ghostly Field Club, an unused track for Perfect Cherry Blossom was included titled Flower of Past Days ~ Fairy of Flower. The track would have been used in Stage 4 for Lily White.

The track was made sometime in December 2002, since the drums originally used a different kit (Edirol SuperQuartet drumkit), making the song more closely related to Trial 0.01. The Ghostly Field Club version was edited to include Perfect Cherry Blossom's newer drumset (Steinberg LM4 Mark-II).

Cut Boss Fights#

Stage 4#

As previously stated, Lily White was originally going to be the boss for Stage 4. This was changed early in development as she was replaced with the Prismriver Sisters. The cut stage likely had a different background from the limited development it had.

Lily's concept art has been drawn by ZUN, but there is no confirmation on if it still exists and what it looks like as of 2025,

On the same note, concept art from sometime in 2002 that resembles Lyrica Prismriver was shown at Touhou Exhibition 2022, though it's skeptical if it actually is Lyrica Prismriver, as it resembles art for one of his CD girls instead (Jacketo, etc.). Pictures were not allowed at this exhibition, but recreations from participants of the exhibition have been leaked online.
