Early Songs#

The Japanese website for The King of Fighters XIII featured a Flash-based character information page that played team themes. When the site opened in March, 2010, four of these team themes were actually early versions of the songs; the website was updated in April, 2010 to replace them with the final themes.

Name

Early (March 2010)

Later (April 2010)

Notes

Purity Soldiers (Psycho Soldier Team)

Almost entirely different; early version opens with an extended piano solo, and the melody is substantially different as well.

Arashi No Saxophone 5 (Yagami Team)

Final song ends with a saxophone solo that's missing in the early version.

Kyokugen Training! ~Mountain Seclusion~ (Art of Fighting Team)

Second half of song has a different lead instrument that plays a completely different melody.

Tame a Bad Boy (Kim Team)

Synth lead at 0:47 is a different instrument that plays a slightly different melody.

Unused Characters#

Adelheid Bernstein, a character who appeared in previous King of Fighters entries and is a prominent character in this game's story, was intended to be a playable character. Though he was not completed, concept art for his character render and win portrait was created before he was scrapped.

Geese Howard was also reportedly planned to be a playable character and sub-boss in the arcade ladder. Though he was scrapped, a rendition of his classic theme song was created which would later be used as an alternate theme for Billy Kane in the console version's Type B soundtrack.

Misc.#

Yuri Sakazaki is depicted in this game as having short hair instead of her usual braided hairstyle as seen in the previous entries. She was in fact intended to have her usual hairstyle in the arcade version of this game, but it was cut due to time constraints. It was instead included as an alternate costume in the game's console releases.
