Concept Art#
In 2013, Re-Logic hired a new sprite artist for the 1.1.3 update.1 which later became the 1.2 update. Below are concepts from the artist Aaron Craig aka AaronC141.
There is a PLETHORA of items to see here that have not been added to the game, such as:
LEFT
- Wooden Flail
- Wooden Staff
- Early Gem Staves
- Topaz
- Amethyst
- Sapphire
- Emerald
- Meteor Bow
- Meteor throwing item (disc?)
- Meteor Spear
- Meteor Flail
- Muramasa Bow
- Muramasa Boomerang
- Muramasa Spear
- Jungle Pickaxe
- Jungle Bow
- Jungle Spear
- Jungle Flail. Notably, the closest relative item would be the Snapthorn, added in 1.4.
- Jungle Arrow
- Molten Spear. Notably, the closest item that looks similar would be the Imp Staff, added in 1.2.4
- Night's(?) Bow
- Night's(?) Boomerang
- Night's(?) Gun. Notably, the shape bears somewhat of a resemblance to the old Dart Rifle sprite from 1.3, before funnily enough, receiving an updated design with a purple color palette just like this gun design.
- Night's(?) Flail
- Night's(?) Armor Set
RIGHT
- Hallowed Waraxe
- An early version of the Uzi.
- Adamantite Brick. Strangely, despite the Cobalt and Mythril Bricks existing since the beginning of those ores additions, the Adamantite Brick still somehow doesn't exist in the game (even in 1.4.5!). The closest equivalent to an "Adamantite Brick" would be the Adamantite Beam, added in 1.2 alongside the resprite of ore bricks to be non-standardized.
- A purple potion with a donut-like hole in the middle.
- A potion fading from blue to green in an "8" shape. The only related potions that would be considerably similar in addition or design would be the Fishing and Flipper Potions.
- A bright green potion, probably related to the Titan or Sonar Potions, or perhaps even the Flasks of Cursed Flames or Poison.
- A potion fading from yellow to red in an odd shape, probably related to the Inferno Potion.
- An early version of the Chlorophyte Claymore.
- An early version of the Chlorophyte Repeater.
- An early version of the Partisan.
- Chlorophyte(?) Flail
- Chlorophyte(?) Spellbook. Notably, this looks similar to the Magnet Sphere or Razorblade Typhoon, which were added in 1.2 and 1.2.4 respectively.
- An early version of the Chlorophyte Armor set.
- An early version of the Chlorophyte Bar.
- An early version of the Chlorophyte Ore item sprite.
- An early version of the Chlorophyte Brick.
- Some sort of other Hallow bullet, based off an inference by the bright pink color palette and the item being a recolor of the Crystal Bullet.
- An early version of the Super Healing Potion.
- Chlorophyte(?) Table. A notable crafting station called the "Chlorophyte Extractinator" was added in 1.4.4 which is an upgrade to the basic Extractinator station.
- Hallow variant(?) of the Shadow Orb (in this case, the Shadow Orb was previously called the "Orb of Light" where it was a generic gold orb that gave off simple light in the early versions of the game, which is seen in this sheet too).
- A grey potion. The color of the potion could be related to the Endurance or Mining Potions, but the appearance bears a slight resemblance to the Titan Potion.
- An early version of the Palladium(?) Sword. Notably, the shape bears a slight resemblance to the Star Wrath.
- An early version of the Palladium(?) Shotbow. Notably, only bearing a singular arrow akin to the other repeaters/crossbows, and not bearing the triple chamber design in the Shotbow revision.
- Palladium(?) Spear. Interestingly, the shape of the item looks similar to that of The Rotted Fork.
- Palladium(?) Spellbook
- An early version of the Palladium(?) Armor set.
- An early version of the Palladium(?) Bar.
- An early version of the Palladium(?) Ore item sprite.
- An early version of the Palladium(?) Brick.
- Some sort of arrow with a purple flame akin to the Flaming and Cursed arrows. Notably, the closest relative item that was added in 1.2 that would be similar to this arrow type would be the Frostburn arrow.
- An early version of the Super Mana Potion.
- Palladium(?) Chest
- An early version of the Water Walking Boots.
- Palladium(?) Key. Notably, the closest relative item that was added in 1.2 that would be similar to this item would be the Temple Key to the Lihzahrd Temple.
- A yellow potion with a hole in the shape of a heart. Through some sprite analysis, this could be an early version of the Warmth Potion due to how strikingly similar the color palette is for both this prerelease sprite, and its old sprite from when it was introduced in 1.2.4.
- A sword with the palette of the Forbidden Armor.
- A repeater with the palette of the Forbidden Armor.
- An AK-47.
- A spear with the palette of the Forbidden Armor. Interestingly, the shape of the sprite looks similar to the 3DS-exclusive item, the "Tonbogiri."
- A wand(?) with the palette of the Forbidden Armor.
- An armor set with the palette of the Forbidden Armor.
- A bar with the palette of the Forbidden Armor.
- An ore item sprite with the palette of the Forbidden Armor.
- A brick with the palette of the Forbidden Armor.
- An arrow with the palette of the Forbidden Armor.
- An early version of the Life Fruit?
- A white and pink boot, possibly early Flower Boots?
- A grapple with 4 hooks. Later on in the 1.3 update, the Lunar Hook would be the first hook to have 4 hooks simultaneously.
- A red and blue sword.
- A red and blue repeater.
- An upgraded version of the Clockwork Assault Rifle?
- A red and blue spear.
- A red and blue spellbook.
- A red and blue armor set.
- A red and blue bar.
- A red and blue ore item sprite.
- A red and blue brick.
- A red and blue bullet.
- A hardmode equivalent of the Anklet of the Wind?
- Some purple leggings. Notably, they look similar to the Ebonwood Greaves, which was added in 1.2.
- An early version(?) of the Titanium Sword.
- An early version(?) of the Titanium Repeater.
- Titanium(?) Disc
- An upgraded version of the Megashark (Ultrashark?)
- An early version(?) of the Titanium(?) Trident.
- Titanium(?) Flail
- Titanium(?) Spellbook
- An early version(?) of the Titanium Armor set.
- A helmet that is fading to ashes?
- A greyscale soul. Notably, the only soul that was an outlier in terms of addition was the 3DS-exclusive "Soul of Blight" where it was only dropped by Ocram.
- A VERY early version of the Terra Blade, most notably being smaller than in the final game.
- A purple sword with some green in the middle, possibly relating to the corruption?
- An early version of the Bone Sword?
- An early version of the Seedler?
- A big sword that is burning.
- A VERY BIG detailed metallic sword, probably being the first iteration of a "final" or "ultimate" end-game sword like the Zenith.
