Development Timeline#
- Circa ~ Late 2020-Early 2021 - The game begins development shortly after the completion of Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated.
- 2021
- August 31st - The first footage of the game known to publicly exist is recorded, showing a very early build of the game. 1
- September 17th - The game is formally revealed as a trailer at the THQ Nordic 10th anniversary Showcase. 2
- December 1st - Footage of a later build of the game is recorded, showing unfinished cutscenes and placeholder dialogue.
- 2022
- July 15th - Original anticipated release date.
- August 12th - The game is shown off again at a THQ Nordic digital showcase, all dialogue was recorded by this point and the cutscenes are mostly finished.
- Circa ~ October-December - The game is completed, as shown by the copyright screen.
- 2023
- January 24th - Second anticipated release date. Delayed a week for unknown reasons.
- January 31st - SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is released in North America, Europe and Australia.
- February 28th - The game is released in Japan.
- December 12th - The game is released on the App Store.
- December 20th - The game is released on the Google Play Store.
