Concept art#
- The menus were dark grey instead of black. As a result, the menu titles were black instead of lime green.
- The option highlights on Performance Shops were yellow instead of lime green.
- Car Specialties Shops were known as Audio Shops.
- Graphics Shops were known as Paint Shops.
- Body Shops were known as "Visual Upgrades".
- Split hoods, scissor doors, and spinners would be able to be chosen from Body Shops instead of Car Specialties Shops.
- Audio layout would be chosen from the top rather than from a scroll bar.
- The colour palette was more organised.
- Street upgrades were known as Performance Kit 01.
- Notably, the grey Nissan 350Z uses 2D calipers and engines, as it was reused from the previous Underground as a placeholder. The red Mazda RX-8, however, is a completely new model, and as such, it appears with a stock body kit because they were not made for it yet.

Early 2004#
- The number plate was reused from the previous Underground installment as a placeholder.
- Rachel's Nissan 350Z was almost completely different. Unlike the final model, it has stock wheels, doesn't use the Mantis body kit and instead uses the Spyder bumpers, side skirts, and rear bumper. It also used a different carbon fibre bonnet and spoiler, too.
