Early Character Designs#

Umio#

Instead of being a male fish with the face of a human male, he was originally going to be a female mermaid, a normal girl with a fish hat, and a regular, gender-less fish, though the design at the middle had a cat-like mouth.

Adult Neptune#

Not much has changed from her initial drafts, owing to the fact that she originated as a little sketch in the "Hyperdimension Neptunia + mk2 art book". However, her earlier drafts had her parka be similar in color to her Hyper self's parka, while the top-left designs depicted her wearing a purple parka.

NEXT Forms#

Early concept art of the four CPUs (Neptune, Noire, Blanc and Vert) NEXT Forms, based on the then-current eight generation consoles (PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Xbox One, with Neptune personifying a fictional 8th-gen Sega console).

NEXT Purple#

Two additional concept sketches shown through magazine scans depict NEXT Purple in different processor outfits, with one (shown in the right) exposing her torso right down to the abdomen section, while another (shown in the left) had far more emphasis on purple. Furthermore, the right illustration depicted her wings without cybernetic cosmetics, while the left was closer to her Purple Heart form, but with additional layers reaching to the end.

NEXT Black#

NEXT White#

Her initial design (on the right) was far different; she had long hair at the back, her attire would've been the same as her Base White processor in Victory, except her topwear is modeled after the Wii U, she has black socks with a d-pad in the middle and her boots are changed to shoes, which are also black with blue accents. She also would've had a hardware-operated fairy companion who looked nearly identical to her. Her second design (on the left) is closer to her final look, but her hat included cat ears.

NEXT Green#

She initially had a split ponytail with green eyes, her headgear was three or four-layered ribbon shaped like the MSN logo, her suit consisted of X-shaped top and bottom wears with long sleeves and leggings, and her belt had upside down triangles.

Gold Third#

B-Sha#

B-Sha

She wore a red dress with yellow flowing layers tied together with a bell and a white collar. Her hair was more pale yellow and her pigtails were longer. She was also much smaller.

C-Sha#

K-Sha#

S-Sha#

Her design is otherwise unchanged, except that her outfit was supposed to be dual-themed: the left side of her clothing was longer than the right side, and she wore a detached sleeve on the left while she wore a glove on the right. Her design on the right also had her in a white version of her final outfit.

Kurome Ankokuboshi#

NepV2-Kurome_concept_art.png

Originally, she wore a gray jacket to distinguish her from Uzume, her other half and the deuteragonist of the game. She also didn’t have orange accents in her initial design.

Dark CPUs#

While the Dark CPUs overall remained unaltered from their initial drafts, the brown accents were lighter in color compared to their final designs. Dark Purple's skin was pale instead of light gray, which was changed likely to maintain consistency with the other Dark CPUs, while Dark Orange had red accents in her suit and didn't have the bloody veins of her final design. Their bust sizes were also the same, whereas in the final game only Purple, Black and Orange had the same bust size; White's bust was smaller and modest, while Green had the biggest bust of the four.

Miscellaneous#

Early Nation logos#

Early logos for each of the four nations.

  • Planeptune - The ring orbiting around the "N" had two designs: one was supposed to be on a straight line, while the other were made up of two rings orbiting on each side. The third design would've been the words "NEPU" styled like the Sega logo.
  • Lastation - It was initially styled like the PlayStation logo.
  • Leanbox - It was going to be a simple "X" inside a box, while another design was styled akin to the original Xbox exterior.
  • Lowee - The logo went through several designs. Among them include a snowperson on a patterned ground, two snowpeople, Blanc on the logo, a Japanese wishing card with Blanc on it, a snowflake with a star on it, a star with the letter "L" on it, and the letter "L" itself styled with blocks.
