Concept art drawn by various artists, probably before and during Half-Life's development.
Characters#
Alien Grunt#

Alien Grunt Weapons#
Cut weapon designs for the Alien Grunt.

Alien Slave#

Barnacle#

Bullsquid#

CIA#
Concept art created by Chuck Jones for CIA enemies. Obviously, none of these character concepts made it into the final game. The CIA may have evolved into the HECU marines fought in the final game. The traits for the CIA Female Soldier were kept for the female Black Ops assassin.

Charger#
A demonic looking design for the cut Charger creature. It barely matches the model found in the SDK.

Chumtoad#
Concept art for the cut Chumtoad. It later resurfaced in the expansion packs as easter eggs.

Fast Walker#
Concept art for a highly intelligent, dog-like alien companion. While it was cut, it may have given rise to Alyx's Dog in Half-Life 2.

Flocking Floater#
Concept art of the cut alien, the Flocking Floater.

Gargantua#
A very different design for the Gargantua. There's also a 3D render of this.

Gonarch#
Concept art for the Gonarch, referred to as the Big Mama.

Gordon#
A bulkier design for Gordon, with goggles.

Headcrab#
This concept art for the Headcrab doesn't match its final game appearance, it depicts a purple-skinned Headcrab with a bulging head and longer limbs.

Hornet Gun#
Concept art for the Hornet Gun or the Alien Organic Assault Rifle. This design was actually modelled and can be seen in numerous screenshots.

Houndeye#
Concept art for the Houndeyes, which originally were going to be friendly.

Human Grunt#

Human Sargeant#
Concept art of the cut Human Sargeant. This concept art has the Human Sargeant use a M60 with two LAW launchers instead of the minigun that the unused model has. Another model that is closer to this concept art can be found in the Half-Life SDK.

Ichthyosaur#

Kingpin#
Concept art for the cut Kingpin.

Mr. Friendly#
Concept art for the cut alien, Mr. Friendly. It looks slightly different from the unused model found in the game.
Nihilanth#
Concept art for the final boss with a slightly different design, it was to be chained to its surroundings.

Panther Eye#
Concept art for the cut Panther Eye alien creature, originally named Sound Dog. Designed for Quiver, it was later cut in Half-Life's development.
Scientist#
An early Scientist design that looks futuristic. The final game opted for a generic lab coat design.

Snark#
The snark was originally referred to as "Squeak Grenade", which is also the model's name in the files.

Unknown Creatures#
Unknown alien creatures designed for Quiver.

Levels#
Concept art for some levels. Some of these are of familiar levels that show enemy placements of cut creatures, other are of unknown levels that may have never been mapped in the first place.

Scrapped Steam Trading Cards#
At one point, the original Half-Life was meant to receive support for Steam Trading Cards. These ended up being scrapped for unknown reasons.
