Development (2004-2005)#
DBZ Budokai 3 Manual Preview#
Two screenshots are found in this preview from Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3's manual, Some differences can be seen.
- It was once known as "Dragon Ball Z: Sagas Evolution" with a unique kanji character.
- The Sagas text looks slightly different.
- A unique hit counter can be seen.
- Different styled HUD.
- A red circle can be seen below Nappa, Most likely how enemies were previously targeted before.
- Character Portraits are directly taken from some of DBZ's episodes, and Piccolo didn't have his unique portrait yet.
Atari's website#
In Atari's site during 2004 they posted some previews, As an extra note, by this point in time the game's logo was now made to what it is upon release.

- Hit Counter can still be seen in both pictures.
- Enemy Lifebars were just a simple lifebar that changed color depending how much life they had left, instead of a blue upside-down triangle that doesn't change color.
- The ? graphics could mean that enemies had this as a placeholder to represent their location before they had their own icons.
Unknown Origin#
The Mighty Nappa#
- Name of the Special Attack displayed above the player's health bar once done, Seems like it also had their unique names according to their character.
Future of Trunks#
- Prototype Androids have a different color palette.

- A unique "city" health bar can be seen, This could mean that it once wasn't necessary to defend all Capsule Corp buildings.
- Layout looks different, Notice the lack of the Capsule Corp buildings.
- Prototype Androids have a different color palette.
- Two Big Androids appear instead of one in the 2nd section, likely to reduce the difficulty after making the Capsule Corp change.
- Goku's kanji on his shirt is from King Kai's (界王), As opposed to the kanji from both the final game and the anime post-namek saga (悟).
