Donut County's development took six years, and the developer posted many snapshots of development online during that time. There was also a 2015 and a 2017 press kit, the first one being more notable. This page presents everything in chronological order.

2012-04-02#

This is the first post about Donut County online. The linked site, whatwouldmolydeux.com, no longer exists. archive.org has it, but not the game build itself.

2014-07-13#

"cloudburgers"

"girl_bedroom". An early version of Mira's House. Mira also has a different design than in the final.

"housecollect". Possibly a very early Potter's Rock. There is still Hopi theming present at this point in development.

"waterwheel_gameplay"

"donutshop". Fairly close to the final design, suggesting that it was one of the first levels to be put together.

2015-02-04#

"giftshop". Morsel's fireworks shop. It doesn't appear to be in Beach Lot C.

"scooter_gameplay". This is the playable section of Mira's House, but the honking man is a raccoon instead at this point in development.

"river"

"desert_home". Probably a work-in-progress Potter's Rock.

"suitcase_gameplay". Another work-in-progress section of Potter's Rock.

"The game centers around a teenage girl working at Donut County, a Los Angeles inspired coffee mug-shaped donut shop. One day the girl gets a mysterious delivery from some raccoons: a box of irresistible donuts that open holes all around the county."
