This page contains notes for the game The Adventures of Down Under Dan.

Game Engine#

The game seems to be programmed using TurboPascal after looking into the game executable (CDE.exe). It also uses the GX Development Series (aka GX Library) from Genus Microprogramming, Inc.

Data Formats#

Game Data Archives#

The files with the 1 file extension are archives for the game assets. They can be extracted using the PCX/GX Library unpacker tool.

Graphics#

All the graphical data in this game is stored in the PCX (Picture exchange) format. Most of the sprites with animations are made into spritesheets.

The FMV (Full Motion Video) cutscenes are all individual PCX files.

Sound & Vocals#

All the sound effects and vocal audio for the dialogue are using the VOC (Creative Voice) audio format.

Music#

The game has some pretty nice background music, all of them are stored as a MID (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) file.
