Internal documents for Wii Sports Resort were included in the September 9, 2020 Nintendo leak.
Intro Storyboard#
A scrapped menu present in the opening scene's storyboards, which would allow you to choose which Mii is present in the intro sequence.
Airplane#
An earlier version of the airplane is seen here.
An early version of the results screen before the Flight Record. The text translates to "Today's Flight Results"
An early version of the Flight Record, the camera is facing the water instead of the sky.
Seems there were only 4 bonus rewards than 8 in the final game.
A screenshot of an early version of Dogfight, there are some giant yellow balloons (?) around the island. Both of the planes here lack the balloons on the back of the plane.
Archery#
A simplified target model is seen here with no animation for holding the bow.
Here, the bow is functionable and the target has a more accurate model.
This series of images shows an arrow being shot at the target. The maximum amount of arrows appears to be 4; the latter is 3. The stage shown is unused in the final game, going under ID 16.

The tutorial here shows a real person demonstrating how to play archery.
Basketball#
The background for the score here is indicated by colour instead of being grey and a darker blue is used for the ball.

Bowling#
The clothes for the Mii are the same ones from Wii Fit and there are no hands for the Mii. A debug feature from Wii Sports is enabled here. The small text at the top translates to: "Automatic Throwing RC"
A early version of Spin Control is shown here. The text translates to: "~Gate Level~ Intermediate"
Canoeing#
A screenshot of an early version of VS Canoeing, the canoes are all the same color instead of the player colors like the final game. Interestingly, it looks like a modified version of Speed Challenge, even with the goal in the background.
Cycling#
4 players are seen riding the same bike here and there is a car on the cycling track's road.
Frisbee#
Frisbee Golf#
The map and tee used in golf are left in here.
The red text here translates to: "Point the remote and press the B button"
Frisbee Dog#
This series of images shows the frisbee being thrown. The spectator models resemble kokeshi dolls and textures which would say Wii Sports Resort are substituted with Wii Sports.

An early version of the balloon, being yellow instead of pink.
Power Cruising#
An early debug version of power cruising displaying text for the mode and time.
Swordplay#
Swordplay Duel#
The tutorial for swordplay here is what later became Swordplay Speed Slice and is from a build seen at E3 2008

Here, the Miis do not have helmet models and the layout is simplistic compared to the final build.

Swordplay Showdown#
The sword model here uses a Wii remote as the grip.
An early stage in the Wuhu Island town area.
Skydiving#
Platforms can be seen floating in the background.

A Wii remote model with no Motion Plus extension is used here.
Wakeboarding#
The yellow text here says: "Speed Points: 12.81" and "Jump Points: 13.00" The route shown goes unused in the final game, going under wakeboard_5.
Screens#
Game Selection#
This screen comes from E3 2008 with only 6 games to choose from.
The games are split into categories here: Variety Sports (Swordplay, Wakeboarding, Frisbee, and Archery); Ball Sports (Basketball, Table Tennis, Golf, and Bowling); Ride Sports (Power Cruising, Canoeing, Cycling, and Air Sports)
Title Screen#
The island model here uses the jogging island from Wii Fit and the copyright date is 2008.
Debug Menu#
This is the main debug menu used for development. It allows you to launch different scenes with detailed options.
