Sonic the Hedgehog (LeapFrog Didj)

This article has a talk page!

This page details development materials of Sonic the Hedgehog (LeapFrog Didj).

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
Notes: There's a LOT more stuff than what's shown here. For one, the back of the game's box uses multiple images from a build with the Sonic 2 HUD.

Deep within Hot Iron Productions' website is a design document for the Didj Sonic game. It appears to have first been discovered by Sonic Stadium on December 25, 2014.1

The available version of the document is a revision from later in development: Section 14, a changelog for the document itself, indicates that it (and by extension the game) underwent various alterations between August 20, 2007 and January 3, 2008.

Spelling Games#

Letter Cannon#

Design Document

Final

  • Uses the Chemical Plant Zone cannon instead of the Carnival Night one.
  • The Bubbles enemies display their letters above their sprites rather than on the sides, and the letters have no border.
  • The floor and background use different graphics and lack the decorations seen in the final.
  • The text boxes use a blurred gray texture instead of the final's simpler blue-bordered design.

Word Wheel#

Design Document

Final

  • The level shown is Marble Zone, which is not present in the final game.
  • An unused Sonic CD sprite is used here, along with a sprite from the Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • The selected letter is red instead of yellow.
  • The text box has a metallic texture. The final game instead opts for a simpler blue-bordered design.
