This page details development materials of Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall.
Ben 10 Series#
The Ben 10 series in FusionFall is somewhat unique. During early development, the first series, featuring a younger cast was the first and only series that had aired at that time. As such, the development team intended to include this younger cast. However, as the game developed, the original series ended, and a more successful and lore-rich sequel series, Ben 10: Alien Force found its way to air. As a result, somewhat late in development, it was decided to switch over as many elements as possible of the original Ben 10 series into elements from the more popular and current Ben 10: Alien Force.
Fully made NPCs for Ben, Gwen and Kevin from the original series can be seen in a height chart made during the game's development below. Due to the rushed nature of the conversion to Alien Force, the original Ben's head and hair were used as a basis for his Alien Force model. Fusion Kevin's assets also weren't updated to reflect Alien Force and instead still uses his younger design, which was worked into the plot of a mission line. Other than Ben's shirt and Gwen's pants either being edited into or being based on player character items as well as unused NPC icons, no other assets for these designs are left inside the final game.

Since Alien Force had just begun and characters such as Vilgax, Hex and Tetrax had not made reappearances, they retained their original designs in the final game. Grandpa Max was originally intended to be one of the four guides before being swapped out for the now older Alien Force Ben.
Early Unstable Nano#
After development had moved in-house at Cartoon Network, a Nano called the Unstable Nano was added to the game. The gimmick of this Nano was that it had no usable abilities or Cartoon Network character form but would gain abilities and a character form every once in a while to preview Nanos coming in upcoming updates. Development builds from when the New Beginnings Update showcase the development of the Unstable Nano including a time when it seemingly had its own ability set unique to itself. It's unknown whether this means it was initially planned to be its own full Nano, without the preview gimmick, or if it simply would've had usable abilities in its base form.
In build dev-20110127, summoning the Unstable Nano shows a completely red placeholder model of it and a power set of Scavenge, Bonus and Treasure Finder. The data for the powers is copied over from existing Nanos in the game as text remains from Buttercup's Scavenge ability, Numbuh Two's Bonus ability and Edd's Treasure Finder ability.
10 days later, in build dev-20110206, the power set was updated to be Scavenge, Heal - Self and Radar with the placeholder text from the Nanos the ability data was copied from now being replaced with unique text.
