Launched in 1981, NEC's PC-88 was a colossal success in Japan, with a wide host of legendary developers and franchises cutting their teeth here before achieving wider fame on other platforms. Models and variants continued to be produced all throughout the 80s, even as more powerful machines (and its own successor) gradually pushed it out of the spotlight.
