Founder's Pack-exclusive content

This game is defunct. Do note the game no longer works at all without modifications. This is most likely due to the game's servers being shut down (as of April 8th, 2024 - transition to Wayfinder: Echoes). As a result, further official developments with the game are unlikely to happen.

This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Between Early Access launch (version 0.1.0.0) and the game's temporary delisting from Steam as a part of its transition to Echoes (version 0.4-onwards) co-op offline build, Wayfinder operated on an Early Access business model where players could purchase pre-launch access to the game for MSRP 19,99 USD. On top of that, Steam and PlayStation Store offered three additional tiers of Founder's Pack upgrade (non-additive to base game price):

• Initiate at 49,99 USD
• Awakened at 89,99 USD
• Exalted at 149,99 USD.

Each pack offered unique additional content, with plans for more exclusive releases down the line.

Pack contents#

To do: Double-check if all non-FP reward MTX-related files were scrubbed from the game's files and if Founder Coins use a unique asset, or if they just repurpose the Runesilver icon with some values changed. Verify if Founder Pack files are in base game content - SteamDB shows them as DLC packages for the game but they're presumably still in base to facilitate co-op between FP owners and normal users w/o having to download a bunch of extra data.

• Bonus Runesilver - premium currency used for purchases at the in-game Premium Shop. Purchasable items included weapons, Wayfinders and cosmetic items (skins, attachments, player housing items, emotes). Standard game purchase netted the player 500 RS (equal to 4,99 USD pack), with the option to purchase additional currency packs with real-life money. Founder's Packs included the following quantities of bonus RS:
  • 1000 (base+500) for ''Initiate
  • 2250 (base+1750) for Awakened
  • 4200 (base+3700) for Exalted

• Bonus Wayfinder Tokens - special form of premium currency/single-use item allowing for instant unlocking of new Wayfinders, similar to Prime Access and Regal Aya systems found in Warframe. Each Founder's Pack contained a different quantity of Tokens:
  • 1 for Initiate
  • 2 for Awakened
  • 3 for Exalted

• Founder's Season Reward Tower access - Reward Tower battle-pass mechanic initially used three separate reward tiers (Free, Paid and Premium) which affected unlock mechanics and Tower availability post-season end. Base purchase ensured access to Paid version of Founder's Season 1 and Free version of Founder's Season 2. Founder's Pack owners would instead access the Towers as follows:
  • Initiate - Paid version of FS1 and 2
  • Awakened and Exalted - Premium version of FS1 and 2

• Enchanted Tower Compass - unique in-game booster item tied to Reward Tower mechanic. It permanently increases Tower experience gain rate by 5%, allowing the player to unlock subsequent rewards at a slightly faster pace. Exclusive to Exalted tier.

• Unique Founder's Flag Profile Background - in-game customization for player profile available for all users who purchased the game before Update 0.4:

• Founder's Glyph Pack - set of three customizable icons for player profile available for all users who purchased the game before Update 0.4:

• Titles and Profile Glyphs - set of additional customizable titles and glyphs (icons) for player profile available for all users who purchased the game before Update 0.4, split into content tiers as per below:
  • Base purchase - "Wayfounder" set
  • Initiate - base purchase + "Original" set
  • Awakened - all contents of Initiate + "Crewmember" set
  • Exalted - all contents of Awakened + "Precursor" set

• Founder's Dye Set - set of three color choices (blue, white, gold) exclusive to all three Founder's Pack tiers.

• Founder weapon skins - three weapon skins (for Sword & Shield, Dual-Wield Dagger and Rifle weapon classes) exclusive to all three Founder's Pack tiers:

• Highlands Strider mount and saddle set - set of unique cosmetics for player mount (used to traverse Skylight hub and Overlands sandbox zones) exclusive to Awakened and Exalted Founder's Pack tiers:

• Rimehunter Cub Housing Pet and Founder's Housing Decoration Set - unique cosmetic-only items players could place in their housing (separate player-specific game stage). All items were exclusive to Awakened and Exalted Founder's Pack tiers:

• Wayfinder Style Sets - three sets of unique customization elements for Wayfinder's "starter" characters: Wingrave, Niss and Silo. Each set contains five separate pieces (head, base, signature and two "gear" slots) and unlike most in-game sets, serves a purely cosmetic function with no effect on character statistics. Exclusive to Exalted Founder's Pack tier.

• Heroic Kyros - unique variant of Kyros Wayfinder exclusive to Exalted Founder's Pack Tier. Heroic Kyros was bundled with unique "Ascendant" set of character customization elements, "Exalted" dye set and received minor buffs (extra Echo slot, bonus +1 Echo capacity per level up to bonus +30 total, 2,5% increase in Weapon and Ability Power attributes) compared to standard version of Kyros. Other character stats, abilities and perks were not altered. According to description on now-defunct playwayfinder.com page, Heroic Kyros was also meant to be bundled with a weapon (Epitaph scythe) and to receive a unique "Heroic Kyros" emote sometime in 2023¹.

To do: Verify if the dyes and emote were implemented - Atma.gg has no details on this.

After transition to Echoes#

Sales of Founder's Packs and other microtransactions were disabled following the game's temporary delisting from Steam on April 8th, 2024 and not restored with the re-launch of versions 0.4 (Echoes Preview) to 0.4.2 (Echoes).
Citing the studio's financial issues and terms of service transfer agreement with Digital Extremes, Airship Syndicate did not allow for the packs to be refunded upon transition to one-time purchase offline single-player model of Wayfinder: Echoes - instead the content of each pack remained accessible in later versions of the game exclusively to the users who purchased it. All premium currency such as Runesilver and Wayfinder Tokens was converted to Founder Coins to be used with a new in-game cosmetics shop (Avarys' Amazing Accoutrements) in Skylight, with all new game copies purchased after version 0.4 automatically receiving 1 Coin (however, there are no other legitimate means of obtaining more Coins). The Founder's Season model was deprecated entirely, and the Reward Tower battle-pass mechanic was converted to a permanent free in-game reward model available for all players, regardless of Founder status, with a second Tower repurposing planned content from Founder's Season 2 (Grendel Reward Tower) getting added in update 0.4. All Wayfinders were reworked to be unlockable in-game for free via main story progression or side-content. Heroic Niss Wayfinder variant was included as a free unlockable upgrade for base Niss obtained through in-game activities rather than paid DLC.
