This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace. |
The NES Tip Off is a basketball game that was scrapped due to the partnership between Anco (who had subcontracted development to Enigma) and Imagineer (the intended publisher) ending, as well as the manufacturing costs being too high. An SNES version suffered the same fate.
An early build was released by Games That Weren't on April 21, 2025. Unusually, while the dumped build has no music, the tracks composed for it do exist and were released separately, having been compiled from source code.

Game Boy Version Remnants?#
In the header for the Game Boy version of The Lion King, the ROM is called "TIP OFF", a remnant of a possible Game Boy version of the game.
This may also indicate that the graphics are stored in a 2BPP Game Boy format if viewed in a tile editor, strongly suggesting it was first developed for the Game Boy. Even the monochrome palettes tend to fit well.
