Thrash Rally (Neo Geo)

To do: Document changes in the Neo Geo CD version, Rally Chase. In addition to names, some trackside logos and background images are changed in the Arcade Archives version - document them.

Thrash Rally is one of the few racing games on the Neo Geo platform, as well as one of the few games there that supported the link functionality.

Hidden Developer Credit#

At position 0x70 in 038-m1.m1 is this hidden developer credit and build date for the game's audio system, emoticon included. Note that line breaks have been added for readability.

"M.C" is Makio Chiba, programmer of the audio system used in all of Alpha Denshi/ADK's Neo Geo titles.

Title Screen Song#

The title screen song, based on the song used in the WRC mode's final stage (RAC Rally), is cut off by several seconds because of a fade-out to the attract demo (at roughly 14 seconds mark).

Regional Differences#

When a Japanese BIOS is used, the cars closely resemble the cars that they were based off of, with some spelling changes. When a US or European BIOS is used, they are changed to fictional names.

The Arcade Archives Neo Geo re-release changed some of those (in either Japanese or English BIOS modes) again for legal reasons (although "MITSUBOSHI" was left unchanged, somehow).

The opponent driver names were also changed between regions (and releases): (Note that the Kenneth Eriksson-based driver appears in both WRC and Dakar Rally modes.)
