Chapter Select#

At the title screen, quickly press Up, X, Down, B, L, Y, R, A. A voice will be heard to confirm correct entry, and a chapter select will be added next to the story mode option in the main menu. Select a chapter using Left/Right, and start the story mode to go there.

Anti-Piracy/Region Lockout#

Like many of TOSE's SNES games, this game contains an anti-piracy check. It includes two different checks to detect if the game is a pirated version: if the game is being played on a PAL console, and if there is any SRAM present. The latter check is done by writing a value to $700000, which will fail on an original cartridge, but will likely be successful if a cartridge copier was used (as copiers tend to include a large amount of SRAM to support a wide variety of games). If either of these checks passes, the game does some modifications to make the story mode much more irritating to play:

  • The game tags itself as a pirated version on the title screen.
  • The above chapter select code does not work.
  • Nearly all health drinks will just damage you. Those that don't will disable a random controller input.
  • When you do reach the boxing arena just before the first fighting sequence, the game restarts back to the start of the story mode, denying any further progress.

All other modes are still functional as normal.
