One on One (Mac OS Classic)

One on One puts you in the Converse sneakers of Julius Erving or Larry Bird as they duel on the basketball court. The pair's respective abilities and tactics are implemented, with the glaring exception of Bird's trash talk.

Finder Comments#

Using the Get Info command on the document StartupScreen brings up this text:

This is the EA logo startup screen. Delete it to reclaim the storage.

The message is correct: deleting this file will have no other effect than to remove the EA logo from the boot sequence and free up 22 KB on the disk. However, said invisible file needs to be revealed with a tool like DiskTop or ResEdit before you can even read the comment, let alone do as it suggests.

You can also Get Info on the disk itself to see a credit omitted everywhere else:

Build Date#

CODE resource 3 includes this text at 000014:

One on One - Beta 5 - 10-25-85

Evidently, nothing in Beta 5 was found to need improvement, because the last changes to the game files on the retail disk were made on that date. The only later modification was the addition of the copy protection dummy file, SRN1, on November 21.
