Max is the sequel to The Adventures of Star Saver, which may or may not feature the same protagonist. It depends on whether or not you consider game box descriptions as canon.

The staff roll was expanded and rewritten.
- Character designers "NAMEKICHI" and "HETAMO" were changed to "MAKOTO OCHIAI" and "SHIGIRU TODA".
- Localization credits for "TITLE DESIGN" and "EXECUTIVE EDITOR" were added.
- Names in the special thanks were added and removed.
- "THANK YOU FOR PLAY THE GAME" was corrected to "THANK YOU FOR PLAYING THE GAME".
