To do:

  • This game has bugs. Tons of bugs that needs to be covered.
  • Make a pre-release page. Many articles back in 2001 shows off images that looks very different from the final game.
  • Given Magna Carta rushed development, there should be plenty of unused models to check out.
  • Document the manual since it's infamous for having things that aren't in the final game like shops.
  • Here's a list of tools in order to investigate some of the files.

Magna Carta: The Phantom of Avalanche is the first fully 3D roleplaying title made exclusively in South Korea by Softmax, whom are known for their massively popular War of Genesis series. Coming back to his homeland despite the painful memories of losing Estell, Calintz returns as a knight in order to get rid of the chaos in Shudelmir as there's been a rise of dangerous monsters and political warfare due to a opposing faction known as "Vermillion". This eventually leads Calintz meeting absurd friends, foes, and his past for better or worse.

This game is also infamous in South Korea for being incredibly buggy and missing content from launch, often being called Bugna Carta.

Unused Graphics#

A unused graphic used for portraits that has that name "unknown". Likely a placeholder.

Unused Audio#

A rather sad music track. It's internally called Liquid Green. Interestingly, there's unused commentary track that's voiced by popular Korean comedian Choi Yang-rak, the voice actor of Roffma! This audio file was planned to appear in the game as a easter egg but not implemented correctly. This would actually spark rumors that Softmax knew the game was going to be received very poorly. But Softmax quickly assured it was a easter egg, even though it's not accessible normally without investigating the SVD files.

Okay, Al! Kka! Gi! Let's go to the arena. Ah~ He sent his own stone away? It's hard to make living, but they gathered here to play! Yeah~ he has really terrible luck. The countdown... bleeds him dry! Won't know before experienced! Oh~ This is an amazing move! Huh? The sharp move! This is why our Alkkagi Association gets blamed. Alkkagi game must go to the way to the end. Players do all sorts of things. They just try to hit the stone.

  • "Alkkagi" is the game those player flicks the finger to knock the opponent's Baduk(Go) stones out of the board.

The opening cinematic that shows Calintz nightmare has a alterative version with slightly different audio. There's also two other versions of this cinematic, but with no audio at all.
