Mad Max (Windows)

Mad Max is the second game set in the Mad Max universe to be released following the NES game in 1990. A previous game developed by Interplay was cancelled because of the tumultuous development of the film Mad Max: Fury Road. The game is focused on vehicle-based combat, with the player building up their car (the Magnum Opus) over the course of the game.

The game sadly didn't do as well as it could've, with former Avalanche CEO Christofer Sundberg attributing its poor sales to being released the same day as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Plans to release (reportedly complete) DLC for the game were also scrapped.

The game runs on the Apex Engine (formerly Avalanche Engine), which also powers the Just Cause series.

To do:

  • Unused dialogue from American voice actor for Max that shows cut side missions.
  • Find a way to rip the game's strings and see if there's any unused text.

Cut Collectibles#

Possibly before the development of the collectible History Relics, the game was meant to have a set of 19 collectible items from before the apocalypse. The "Postcard" item survived into the final game as one of the many History Relics which can be found throughout the wasteland. The model of the doll head went on to be used as one of the hood ornaments for the Magnum Opus.

The "Jimmy Bar" item was originally meant to have a "large" and "small" variant. The "small" variant became the default one in the final game.
