K-On! Houkago Live!! (PlayStation Portable)

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

K-On! Houkago Live!! is a rhythm game based on the anime and manga series of the same name by Kakifly, that strangely never got an overseas localization. It did get an HD remake for the PlayStation 3 on June 21, 2012, however.

Unused Graphics#

Throughout the game files, there are several dozen textures containing a red circle with in it the kanji 仮, meaning "temporary". As the name suggests, none of these are actually visible in-game. Most of these textures are simply screenshots from the anime, most likely to be used in the background while playing songs.

Here is one of the most notable of these textures, seemingly used as placeholder menu screen. This image is from the Kyoto Animation archives, which were used for various posters and advertising. K-On_Houkago_-_atr_title.png

Duplicate files#

The game features two layers of archives, starting with the common Criware CPK format. Specifically, the std.cpk. Inside this, there are two things to note: there is a bin directory, with several hundred .bin files, and a few standalone directories with some loose files in it. The files in these standalone directories Do nothing. If we instead look in the bin directory, we will find that these .bin files are FMDX format. Scattered throughout these FMDX archives are the exact files located in the few directories outside of the bin folder.
