Jersey Devil is a platformer that puts you in the role of the titular devil of folklore, whose mission is to stop Dr. Knarf from taking over Jersey City with his army of living vegetables and such.
Regional Differences#
There are many differences, mainly visual, between the three versions of the game.
General Differences#
- The North American version adds vibration support and a Select button toggle for it during gameplay. The Japanese version inexplicably lacks vibration despite releasing later, and also removes the calibration option for the Analog Controller.
- The North American and Japanese versions add an option to check the mid-level status screen while in the hub level.
- In the European version, the first level does not require collecting the KNARF tokens to open it as it is already open to begin with.
- The MegaToon Studios logo in the European version is replaced with the Behaviour logo at startup.
- The North American version adds an short cutscene that plays after starting a new game.
Title Screen#
- The European version has a static background that was replaced with a scrolling background in the North American and Japanese versions.
- The logo in the North American version has a 3D effect added to it while the Japanese version uses a completely different logo.
- There is no copyright information on the European and Japanese title screens.
- The European version lacks the rolling demos that were added in the North American and Japanese versions.
- The Japanese version has a new music track for its title screen.
