In Your Face (Arcade)

This game was never completed and/or given a public release.
As a result of this, keep in mind that the developers might have used or deleted some of the content featured here, had the game actually been released.

In Your Face is Jaleco's (possibly cancelled) response to Konami's Double Dribble.

Finished (and possibly released?) Japanese Version#

Although the sole playable set in MAME is the US one, it's possible to access a hidden Japanese version called Dunk Magic: USA Pro Basketball by repeatedly mashing the start, pass, and shot buttons at the same time during bootup. (NOTE: this requires a lot of luck, as most of the time it'll load the US version as normal. If this happens, reset and try again.)

At first glance, it looks like a simple region change, but this is actually a finished/complete version of the game. It's possible that this Japanese localization was actually released (not sure if in small quantities or not) or just cancelled at the last minute (like Chimera Beast, another Jaleco game).

Continue Penalty#

  • In the US version, no matter who is in advantage, the game will ask you to continue to proceed to the next period.
  • In the Japanese version, if you are in advantage, the game goes on, but if the CPU is in advantage, the game will ask you to continue to proceed to the next period.

Victory Screens#

In the Japanese version, when you win a game, you're given a victory screen and then you proceed to the next game. In the US version, no matter if you won or not, the game gives you a game over, making any further progression impossible.

The Japanese version shows this screen after a two-player game. The US version instead gives an instant game over.
