Hudson's Adventure Island (Game Boy)

Hudson's Adventure Island for the Game Boy is actually an unnumbered (in the west) port of the second NES game. And for some reason, an easier one at that.

World Select#

Wait a couple seconds at the title screen, then press Right, Left, Right, Left, A, B, A, B to make the world select appear.

Disabled Debug Screens#

There are two disabled inaccessible in normal game debug routines that exist in the game's ROM near the World Select code in both regional versions. Both routines have no font data loading code, which should be the same as for World Select and a Game Over screens assuming that both were called from the World Select mode at the development stage.

To call it properly in the final version, you must use one of the Game Genie codes below, then enter the World Select cheat at the title screen.

Area Select#

Here you can select any game level to start with using D-Pad buttons, or toggle the invincibility mode on or off with A. Press Start to play. There is no check for valid indexes, late ones lead to load a garbage data instead of levels.

This screen allows you to simply select one of the main game handlers, like title screen, ingame or various secret or bonus rooms. A valid indexes are 00-0A, where 0A is the World Select screen index, and will return back to the Mode Select screen instead when using the Game Genie code. Other indexes will crash the game.
