Grand Cross

To do:
Unused graphics - A Sega logo for instance is buried in the ROM even though they published the game.

Grand Cross is a futuristic pinball video game with power-ups, bosses, and even some bonus rounds where you control a mech (which also happens to transform into a pinball).

Version Differences#

To do:
There are likely more version differences.

There are currently two distinct versions known: Grand Cross, with version number 1.02F, and Power Flipper Pinball Shooting, with version number 1.33. The higher version number may suggest that Power Flipper Pinball Shooting came later.

Attract Screen#

Grand Cross

Power Flipper Pinball Shooting

  • In Grand Cross, the title appears first, followed by the high score tables, then the gameplay demo.
  • In Power Flipper Pinball Shooting, the high score tables appear first, followed by the title, both with unique wave effects. The gameplay demo also plays in the background while they are being shown.

Insert Credit Voices#

  • When the title appears in Grand Cross, a voice yells "Welcome to the world of Grand Cross!". When the first credit is inserted, "Press the Start!" is heard.
  • There is no equivalent title voice in Power Flipper Pinball Shooting. The voice heard when inserting the first credit is also different, saying "All right! You've made a right choice!"

Pre-Stage Sequence#

In Power Flipper Pinball Shooting, some of the stages will show the larger enemies that should be destroyed as well as the locations of switches, bonus rounds, and boss rounds. Grand Cross doesn't do this.

Misc.#

  • Pressing the flippers and tilting the stage produces sound effects in Power Flipper Pinball Shooting.
  • Some of the flippers are mapped differently between versions.
  • When the ball drains in Power Flipper Pinball Shooting, it shakes around for a few seconds before exploding. In Grand Cross, the next ball starts immediately upon being drained.
