What makes this game notable or what is it about? Are you a bad enough dude to save this article?

This needs some investigation.

Specifically: Only the textures have been checked for unused content so far; the other assets, including text & audio, need to be checked as well.

Alternate Control Scheme#

It seems that at some point in development, another, less interactive control scheme was used, where the player would only use the mouse and spacebar. The file is called gui_explorer_controls internally, while the image matching the current control scheme is called gui_fps_controls, though this image also goes unused. In the final game, a modified version of gui_fps_controls, called Controls_Handdrawn, is used on the 'New Game' screen. The mouse and the keys were aligned vertically to reduce the vertical height, and the mouse was redrawn.

There are a number of development assets left over, including screenshots of the IDE, presumably used by the developers for quick reference.

Unused Graphics#

These are some unused textures that were most likely used as placeholders by the developers.

Fresh Magazine Back Cover#

This is the back cover for the Fresh magazine, which can be found in the library. It cannot be seen in-game and looks like a placeholder.

Groove Magazine Back Cover#

GoneHome_Groove_Backcover1.png

This looks like a placeholder texture for the Groove magazine, which can be found in Sam's room. It is unknown which of the two magazines would have used this, as neither of the back covers can be seen in-game.

SNES Picture#

This is an SNES picture, presumably used as a placeholder at some point.
