Fragile Ball

Fragile Ball is one of those classic rage-inducing games about rolling a ball out of an improbably dangerous maze, except this time the ball is fragile. Except for when it's not. It's complicated.

Shortly after its initial 2007 release, it was licensed off to DK Games, who significantly revamped it and released it on WiiWare, iOS, and PC as Equilibrio. In 2015, the Windows shareware version was taken offline in favor of a relaunch on Steam under a new title, though the title screen remained unchanged. It's still the same damn game.

Most of the game's assets are saved in pure Direct3D format files, making it extremely moddable and generally pokeable.

Test Level#

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Check the executable for a possible dummied out stage 0 entrypoint.

stage0map.X and stage0model.X contain a test area. Note that the exit placement, tilt restraint, and tip aren't part of the map or model and instead are hardcoded to the stage number. This screenshot was obtained by swapping out the files for stages 0 and 1, so all those elements are inherited from stage 1 and should be ignored.

Placeholder Texture#

ball.dds contains a placeholder texture with numbers. There's not much to it.
