FlingSmash is a game where you fling a tiny yellow hero named Zip to smash blocks and save Suthon Island. It's exactly what it says on the tin.
It was sold with the newly-released Wii Remote Plus packed in, taking advantage of its built-in Wii MotionPlus functionality (though the game can still be played with a normal Wii Remote with the Wii MotionPlus accessory attached). It's also notable for being the last game developed by Artoon before they were absorbed into AQ Interactive, with several employees from the company leaving to form a new company, Arzest, just in time to work on another Wii game that was sold alongside a Wii Remote Plus.
Unused Graphics#
Unused Ranks#
There are unused graphics for a C rank and a D rank. Normally, the lowest rank possible is a B rank. "ランク" translates to "rank".
"Hi" Graphic#
An unused graphic of the word Hi. This may have been used for high scores at some point in development, before being scrapped.
"のこリ" Text#
Large text reading "のこリ" (nokori), which translates to "leftover". This may have been used as a placeholder for the text that shows up when you activate a Fruit Power.
Player 3/4 Graphics#
Indicator graphics for a third and fourth player. FlingSmash only supports multiplayer for up to two players. Interestingly enough, another Wii game called Fortune Street has an unused copy of the FlingSmash pause menu, but with cursors for player 3 and 4. Their colors even (sorta) match these assets!
Early "Press A" Graphic#
A graphic stating "Aボタンでさいかい", featuring a more hastily made A button icon. The text translates to "Press A to resume".
Star-Shaped Fruit Tile#
An unused Fruit Tile that has the shape of a star. It is unknown what this is for, but it's possible that it could've applied all Fruit Powers (SPLIT, BIG, FIREWORKS and POWER) at the same time.
"Poko Tennis" Text#
Text stating "Poko Tennis 1/2". "Poko" is Zip's name in Japanese. This is presumably an early title for the tennis minigame. Interestingly enough, this text uses the game's final English font.
Unused Music#
Within /sound/stream is an unused music track, titled nanba_rough02.
