Factory Panic

A game where Mikhail Gorbachev some guy takes from an evil capitalist dog's factory according to his ability and gives freely to the Soviet people according to their needs.

Debug Menu#

The "Debug Chamber" can be entered from the title screen by pressing 1 twice and 2 three times in any order (e.g. 2, 1, 2, 1, 2), then holding Left and pressing Start.

This menu offers a map selection, sound effect and music tests, and an invulnerability toggle. Selecting "Quit" starts the game with the selected options.

Regional Differences#

In the Japanese version, the player controls Mikhail Gorbachev (nicknamed "Gorby"). Overseas, the Soviet overtones (nicknamed "Sovertones") were altered; some guy who's not Gorby is still breaking into a factory to give people free Game Gears, though, so it remains pretty socialist.

Title Screen#

Japan

Europe/Brazil

The Japanese title screen is extremely sparse, while the international version was fancied up a bit with a depiction of the evil polluting factory some guy is about to righteously invade. Also, the text was moved a bit so as not to obscure the new background.

Europe/Brazil

In-game and in cutscenes, the main character received a marginally complete makeover to make him look unlike any contemporary Soviet leaders.
