Fürst Marigor und die Tobis is a singleplayer educational click-adventure game released in Germany in 1997.

Information |
|---|---|---|
AB_EU02 |
The narrator witch saying goodbye, supposedly for when the player chooses to exit the game, but it doesn't get used. |
|
R98_EL04 |
|
There will be a sound for when the player obtains 1, 2 or 3 elf stones but there is also a sound for when you get 4 or 5 elf stones, which is not possible. |
R98_EX01 |
|
There is a sound for exiting a failed task, and these alternative sounds that don't get used. |
R98_S01 |
|
These are sounds for winning or failing a task, respectively, and are used but only the first 1 second can be heard in each one, as the game will exit the task too quickly. |
ST_ELA01 |
Ela telling the player that all animals and creatures in a given world have been rescued. Unused, since a cutscene will play each time, instead. |
|
ST_EUZK1 |
The witch telling the player that an object has lost its magic for good. It seems the developers decided to let the player click on the same object again after first clicking on a different one, therefore this became unused. |
Unused Graphics#
Unused cursor icons.
It seems the Tobi children were originally smiling during their confrontation with Marigor at the lake instead of looking worried.
This image exists in the file 1B.DXR only on the 2003 version. It is referred to as B+S, probably referring to persons involved in the game's development.
Unused Objects#
There are unused graphics related to a word puzzle when clicking on a barrel in the forge in the cave area. However, clicking on the barrel doesn't do anything on both game versions. But strangely, placing the cursor on the barrel during a screen transition would briefly change the cursor to a star cursor, indicating that this was at one point fully functional. Perhaps the reason this was taken out of the game is because the Tobi children are positioned exactly in front of the barrel, so the player can't see it.
Revisional Differences#
There are two versions of the game:
- 1. Auflage, released in 1997
- 2. Auflage, released in 2003
The 1997 version was a 16-bit version, able to run on Windows 3.1, 95 and 98 whereas the 2003 version was a 32-bit version, able to run on more modern Windows systems. Further differences:
- The 1997 version contained several programming errors, such as being able to click on things before the room loaded, thus enabling the player to collect items that have already been collected or have not yet dropped on the floor, or start puzzles that aren't unlocked yet or have already been solved. These errors have been widely fixed in the 2003 re-release.
- The 2003 version rewards the player with 8 additional elfstones for the first puzzle solved on a new savegame. Also, after solving all creature puzzles and creating an ice stone for a completed area, elfstones are reset to 10 instead of 0. These changes have probably been made to make the game less frustrating for younger players.
- The 2003 version has faster loading times.
