Captain Commando is a beat-em-up starring a group led by the titular character that was meant to be Capcom's mascot (no coincidence his name is Captain Commando), but they instead felt better represented by blue robots and fireball-throwing hobos.

There's a large variety of graphics for civilian characters, but none of them appear anywhere.
Regional Differences#
When the game was brought in the US, Capcom USA opted to give more "cool" names to three playable characters (With the obvious exception of Captain Commando):
- Jenetty (Codename: Mummy Commando) was renamed Mack the Knife, with a direct reference to the famous jazz standard "Mack the Knife," fitting for a character that fights with dual knives.
- Sho (Codename: Ninja Commando) was renamed Ginzu the Ninja, with a direct reference to the popular "Ginzu" knife brand of the era, emphasizing his role as a blade-wielding ninja.
- Hoover (Codename: Baby Commando) was renamed Baby Head, which aligns his unique design: a super-intelligent baby piloting a robot.
This also applies to the final boss:
- Genocide was renamed Scumocide, possibly to avoid the heavy real-world connotations of the original name.
