Angry Birds (Genesis, 2012)

The 2012 Genesis Angry Birds is a homebrew port of the mobile game, released as a free download on the SpritesMind.Net forum. It is surprisingly accurate to the real thing, besides the missing physics on the blocks.

It would later be ported to the NES in 2013.

Unused Graphics#

A sprite of Chuck using his dash ability. In-game, Chuck uses his standard sprite when dashing.

Sprites of Chuck post-collision. The game just makes the birds explode after hitting the Pigs' structure.

Red, Chuck, and the Blue's sprites rotated 90 degrees, likely used for rolling after hitting the structure. Again, the birds explode after they are used, leaving these unused.

Revisional Differences#

Physical copies of the game started to circulate some time after its free release on the SpritesMind.Net forum, which have more levels than the version released as a free download. Of particular note is the release on the currently undumped Genesis-based "ES-2016 16bit" handheld system (which zhengyaxin_8bit had shared his development process of the menu on the same forum), including the "original" version alongside an "Angry Birds Seasons" version with extra cutscenes and new theme.
