The earlier build of the DS Tornado Outbreak, dated May 30, 2008, was also found on WayForward's backup discs. It has quite a few differences from the July 29 build.
General Differences#
- The model viewer displays textures correctly.
- The UI is completely different.
- Destruction physics aren't present.
- There are four levels present: Farm Small, Farm Medium, Farm Large, and Gym Level.
- The primary goal of each level is to destroy a certain amount of objects. The July 29 build instead requires the player to cause $7,500 worth of damage.
Level Differences#
Farm Small#
A level made for testing the small tornado. After completing the objectives, the game continues to the next level.
Farm Medium#
The same level as Farm Small, though the tree blocking the path is gone, which allows the entire level to be explored. The objectives are to destroy cows, farmers, tables, tractors, and trailers.
Farm Large#
A very small level that only contains one barn. As stated in the build notes, this level was used to test the destruction physics, which aren't present in this build. The barn is able to be destroyed, however nothing happens after doing so.
Gym Level#
A test level that isn't present in the later build. It contains a farmer, a few chickens, cows, barns, trees, tractors, and a non-functional pink object. The trees, barns, and tractor have no collision. A portion of another map can be seen on the left. The tornado's size can be increased and decreased by pressing L and R.
