This page details one or more prototype versions of Toki no Senshi: Chrono Soldier.
For 20 years, the only version of Toki no Senshi: Chrono Soldier in MAME turned out to be a prototype, as a new version with a lot of stuff missing in the former version was added.

Misc.#
- Most levels received a graphic overhaul in the final version.
- After level 3, the game starts to recycle the first three level layouts in the prototype, while in the final version each level has its own layout.
- In the final version, a staff roll was added after level 8 is beaten. In the prototype, the game will abruptly cut to the title screen or to the high score table.
- In the final version, when you beat the game, the high score table correctly says that you reached level 08, while in the prototype it incorrectly says that you reached level 01.
- A working Test mode was added in the final version, while in the prototype, it just gives you a black screen if the test dipswitch is set.
- The prototype has a (half broken) 2-player mode where during Player 2's turn, he'll be able to move and attack as normal, but the whole level is completely messed up. Instead of fixing this, 2-player support was completely removed from the final version.
