Prototype C

To do:

  • Rip the main menu music, and upload any notable unused sprites or graphics.

This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.

A build obtained and dumped by Lon on February 28, 2024.

This build of the game is extremely early, representing the beginning points of development where it had barely even begun. Many things are placeholders or reused directly from Legacy of Goku 2.

General Differences

The title screen is an early placeholder, using key art from the anime, and using an altered version of the Legacy of Goku 2 main theme.

Many non-essential assets that aren't seen in the prototype during gameplay don't currently exist, with a lot of leftover sprites imported from Legacy of Goku 2 going unused. This is consistent with other builds of the game.

Gameplay Differences

The introduction cutscene recapping Legacy of Goku 2 does not exist, and gameplay begins with Goku on Snake Way.

The B button cannot be used to skip text.

The Scouter is unimplemented, pressing the Select button does nothing.

The screen with the plane to Heaven and Higher Plane is skipped, and Goku goes straight to the Grand Kai's mansion upon leaving Yemma's office.

Goku only has two skills, the basic Ki blast and Kamehameha, both taken from Legacy of Goku 2. The treasure chest containing the cotton gi does not exist, and the game will simply advance upon punching the katchin wall. Goku will also skip transforming into a Super Saiyan when fighting Pikkon.

The experience increasing effects of the weighted clothing has already been implemented. The chests the weights are in are also reused from Legacy of Goku 2.

Leveling up is largely unimplemented, with only a placeholder message displaying when enough experience is gained. Because of this, the level gate in the Other World is just a regular door. HP and EP will both increase by one point per level.

"Grand Kai Rocks" and "Snake Way" are the only two songs in the game at this point, and are used throughout the build.

Gameplay stops extremely early on, after the Pikkon boss fight. The Flying Nimbus never appears, so Gohan is unable to leave to progress the story. Regardless, none of the later maps seem to exist at this point anyway, since this is also where the map select in the debug menu ends.

The forest south of East District 439 stops abruptly after two screens, before the screen where Gohan's level door would be in the final game, and uses the track "Grand Kai Rocks" as a placeholder.

The enemies in the forest are all recycled from Legacy of Goku 2, being the Tiger Bandits, Kuma Mercenaries, and the Warlord's Henchmen. The Kuma Mercenaries are using a new sprite, with a shield added.
